Techniques & Tools
Body Scrubs
- You should use a mitt or loofah vs. the palm of your hand this saves your hands from getting rubbed raw from the coarse materials. Please check our store for suggested scrubbing tools
- Always pat dry and moisturize after a scrub
- A cool rinse after a body scrubbing helps circulation
Body Wraps
- Make sure you wash off all the dirty by a quick shower before you start your wrap
- Remember to warm your tools towels and sheets as well as all the ingredients
- The tempture suggestion for the water you place your fabric (cotton) strips in should be around 180º F, or 82º C
- Remember to wear protative gloves when you ring the water out of your strips of fabric
- Make sure the room you are doing the wrap in is very warm
- You may also raise your body temperature internally by drinking one of our suggested herbal tea recipes or even regular tea
Herbal Baths
- I recommend some cheese cloth or a very thin linen cloth wrapped tightly with twine to prevent a messy herbal bath. Which allows you to soak in a “tea bath”
- You can steep from 10-15 minutes. But try not to “burn the leaves” with a very hot bath, the hotter the bath the shorter the steep time.
Moisturizers
- Heavy oils such as olive, seasame, and safflower are best for dry skin
- Lighter oils such as jojoba, avacado, and grapeseed are better for normal to oily skin
- Gels such as aloe are better for normal to oily skin
- Oils such as baby oil or others that contain animal fat or are mineral based do not absorb well into the skin and build up residue.
Cleansers
- When you’re using cleansers don’t forget to cleanse your neck. It is never too early to prevent aging since your neck is the same type of skin and ages the same as your face!
- Make sure you use dark colored towels since some ingredients might stain!
- Make sure you get from your hair line to your the bottom of your neck
Steams
- Make sure you clean your face before doing a steam
- Becareful not to scald your face with the steam If the inside of your nose starts to burn wait a few minutes then go back
- If your face continuqes to feel hot take a soft towel/paper towel and put cold milk on it and pat directly on to your face and neck
